Repertoire Requirement

■Please read the regulations “Rules of the 28th International Chopin Piano Competition in ASIA”, which are due to be published in July-August 2026, before submitting your application. In the event of any discrepancy between the repertoire listed below and the regulations, the regulations shall prevail.

Professional Category

This superlative category is to discover and encourage young promising pianists who pursue a career as professional pianists (open to all nationalities).

ProfessionalOpen to those born between 1996 and 2014

Solo Categories

For all participants up to and including junior high school students, for senior high school students and older participants who specialize in music, and for those with equivalent skills. The choice of category should be based on the age of the participant (open to all nationalities).

PreschoolOpen to those born on or after April 2, 2020
Elementary School Grade 1&2Open to those born on or after April 2, 2018
Elementary School Grade 3&4Open to those born on or after April 2, 2016
Elementary School Grade 5&6Open to those born on or after April 2, 2014
Junior High SchoolOpen to those born on or after April 2, 2011
Senior High SchoolOpen to those born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2011
UniversityOpen to those born between April 2, 1999, and April 1,
2008, who are undergraduate/graduate students majoring in piano performance, or those of equivalent age and skills
Solo ArtistNo age restrictions, the highest category in all solo categories

Chopinist Categories

For those who adore the music of Chopin, except for students majoring in piano performance (open to all nationalities).

If any of the following apply, participation is not permitted.

Chopinist I–current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance.
–those who earn income by performing or teaching piano.
Chopinist A–current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance.
–those who earn income by performing or teaching piano.

–current students whose major is in piano performance.
