Repertoire Requirement
Professional Category
The Professional Category will not be held in this 27th edition (2025-2026). The next Professional Category will be held in the 28th edition (2026-2027), and we hope that by holding it every two years, we will be able to provide more fulfilling experience to all the participants in this category. In the years when the Professional Category is not held, the Solo Artist and the Concerto C will be the highest categories.
Solo Categories
For all participants up to and including junior high school students, for senior high school students and older participants who specialise in music, and for those with equivalent skills. The choice of category should be based on the age of the participant (open to all nationalities).
Preschool | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2019 |
Elementary School Grade 1&2 | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2017 |
Elementary School Grade 3&4 | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2015 |
Elementary School Grade 5&6 | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2013 |
Junior High School | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2010 |
Senior High School | Open to those born between April 2, 2007 and April 1, 2010 |
University | Open to those born between April 2, 1998 and April 1, 2007, who are undergraduate/graduate students majoring in piano performance, or those of equivalent age and skills |
Solo Artist | No age restrictions, the highest category in all solo categories |
Concerto Categories
For all participants up to and including senior high school, for university students and older participants who specialise in music, and for those with equivalent skills. The choice of category should be based on the age of the participant (open to all nationalities).
Concerto I | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2013 |
Concerto AA | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2010 |
Concerto AB | Open to those born on or after April 2, 2007 |
Concerto B | No age restrictions |
Concerto C | No age restrictions, the highest category in all concerto categories |
Chopinist Categories
For those who adore the music of Chopin, with the exception of students majoring in piano performance (open to all nationalities).
Chopinist I | Open to those born on April 1, 2010, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance, and those who earn income by performing or teaching piano. |
Chopinist A | Open to those born on April 1, 2010, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students and graduates whose major is/was in piano performance, and those who earn income by performing or teaching piano. |
Chopinist B | Open to those born on April 1, 2010, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance. |
Chopinist S | Open to those born on April 1, 1970, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance. *Playing from memory is optional. |
Chopinist Concerto A | Open to those born on April 1, 2007, or before, who adore the music of Chopin, except current students whose major is in piano performance. |
